The Queen of New Zealand's Maori ethnic group is 27-year-old Nga Wai Hono e Te Po Paki.

The inauguration ceremony of the new queen was completed today, Thursday. He was anointed by Maori chiefs according to tradition.

Maori King Tuheishia died last Friday of a heart attack. He underwent heart surgery.

The new queen is the youngest child of the late king. She is the only daughter of the late King.

The choice of Nga as the new queen was highly unexpected. But his appointment was welcomed as a symbol of change by members of the Maori community.

A council of Maori chiefs chose Nga as the new queen. Appointed her as queen.

Apart from Nga, the late king has two sons. They are bigger. When the king was ill, his two sons performed various official duties.

It was assumed that one of the two brothers would succeed the king. Ngar's name was not in anyone's mind as the king's successor.

Maori cultural adviser Karaishiana Taiuru told AFP the engagement was definitely an exception to traditional practice. Traditionally the king's eldest child is chosen as the successor. And he is usually a man.

Taiuru commented that it was a blessing to see a young Maori woman become queen. In particular, she became queen at a time when Maori leadership was getting older. Again the community is now facing various challenges.

Taiuru said, at this time of many social changes including artificial intelligence (AI), genetic modification, global warming, various ethnic groups in New Zealand are facing various questions and threats. In such a situation, Maori were expecting someone from a new and younger generation in the seat of leadership.
