Ukrainian troops fail to achieve their goals in Kursk
Ukraine's armed forces have failed to achieve the goals they set when they invaded the Kursk region, Russian ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin said in an interview with Turkey's TRT World.
'Their main goal was to capture the Kursk nuclear power plant or some land in the west of Ukraine,' the diplomat said, 'but none of these goals have been achieved, they can't move forward.'
'They have not slowed down the advance of Russian forces in the Donbass, they are advancing very quickly. They're losing and burning their best reserves,' added Kelin, adding, 'We're going to push (Ukrainian forces) and they'll have to go.'
Ukraine's massive offensive in the Kursk region began on August 6. A federal state of emergency has been declared in the region and missile alerts have been sounded repeatedly. Residents of border areas are being evacuated to safety.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 197 temporary housing facilities are currently constructed in 28 regions, accommodating more than 11,500 people, including 3,500 children.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Kiev lost 5,200 troops and 73 tanks in the region. The campaign to defeat the Ukrainian forces continues. Source: Tas.
