Ukraine tried to attack nuclear power plant: Putin
The Ukrainian army has begun to occupy the Kursk region of Russia. For the past two weeks, Kiev has been interested in occupying various regions of Kursk. However, Russia has accused Ukraine of attempting to attack the Kursk nuclear power plant. President Vladimir Putin made such a claim on Thursday.
"The enemy tried to attack the (Kursk) nuclear power plant last night," Putin said in Belgorod, Moscow, speaking about the situation in the Kursk border region.
Putin also said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been informed about the situation. In view of which IEA has promised to send experts to assess the overall situation of the plant, he said.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that it had intercepted a Ukrainian drone in the Kursk region during a surprise attack. However, Ukraine has not yet commented on this matter.
Note that the Kursk nuclear power plant is located about 60 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
