Russian troops captured another village in Donetsk
Russian troops have captured another village in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region. The Ukrainian army, on the other hand, says it has penetrated further into Russia through the Kursk region.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the country's troops took control of the important village of 'Mezhov' in the Donetsk region on Thursday. It is located between the villages of Avdivka and Pokrovska.
The village of Avdivka came under Russian control last February and Russian troops are now advancing towards the village of Pokrovska. Russia has claimed the capture of Mezhov village as a 'big victory'.
Ukraine, on the other hand, claims that its troops have penetrated deeper into the Kursk region. On August 6, Ukraine suddenly invaded Russia within 30 kilometers of the Kursk region. So far, Kiev's forces have managed to retain control there.
As a result, Russia has been forced to withdraw its troops from the region. Source: Al-Jazeera
