There have been counter-attacks between Israeli forces and the Lebanese Hezbollah group. A state of emergency has been declared in Israel for 48 hours due to the emerging situation.
Hezbollah said in a statement on Sunday that they fired a large number of missiles at Israel to avenge the killing of the organization's commander Fuad Shokar at the end of July. This completed the 'first phase' of the attack.
The statement also said that Hezbollah fired more than 320 rockets targeting 11 Israeli military bases and barracks. These include four military installations in the occupied Golan Heights, including the Meron base.
